For more than thirty years, Vaughan Cleary has worked with schools and organisations to build places where people feel motivated, connected and able to do their best.
One observation has driven most of that work: give people real autonomy, relationships and competence, and things change. Motivation climbs, engagement deepens, and the community around them gets stronger.
His doctoral research looked at how organisational structures shape motivation and engagement, and showed that designing around human needs genuinely changes how people experience learning, work and belonging. As a mixed-methods researcher, he turns what people say into insight an organisation can act on.
He's convinced that a lot of what organisations write off as people problems are really design problems. Through HRPA, he helps leaders build the cultures and structures that let people and communities flourish.
